Silvia's powerful guidance has made the Guardian Angels what it is today.


The Founders of the Guardian Angels knew they had a star when they tapped Silvia Rios Fortun to be President of their newly formed group. Silvia’s powerful guidance has made the Guardian Angels what it is today. When she became president in 1999, the Guardian Angels were in an infant stage, having been recently founded and carefully nurtured to attract 40 caring volunteers. Today, Silvia’s passionate leadership and dedication has involved more than 300 members in this spirited, energetic group.

Silvia graduated at the top of her class at FIU in computer science and mathematics. For more than six years, she enjoyed a very successful career as manager of Burger King’s electronic data processing audit department. She decided to resign to raise her two young children, Hector Jr. and Gabriella, and dedicate her energies to philanthropy.

Silvia’s energy is boundless and when she makes a commitment, she dedicates herself fully to that cause. Her style, joyful enthusiasm and warmth touch all who meet this very special, one-of-a-kind lady. She is clearly a champion for the underdog and is always there for people or causes who need assistance. Silvia has a wonderful combination of a caring heart, non-stop determination, and a fantastic fundraising ability.
