Golden Angels Spring Dinner 2010The Fourth annual Jackson Memorial Foundation Golden Angel Society Recognition Dinner at Joe’s Stone Crab on May 18th celebrated the year’s fundraising success on behalf of the Jackson Health System and 45 new Golden Angel gifts. Roland Rodriguez, CEO and President of Jackson Memorial Foundation, expressed his heartfelt thanks to everyone at the dinner. “We are deeply grateful to our magnanimous supporters whose financial contributions help Jackson achieve its mission of treating the needs of all and improving its status as a world-class hospital.” The Golden Angels took over the entire restaurant—and it was closed to outside diners. Creation of this event was the brainchild of Pat Wallace, Chairman and Founder of the group, who announced that this would be her last year at the helm. What could be better than stone crabs and key lime pie! But the fun atmosphere doesn’t belie the seriousness of the party. It recognized the 45 people and organizations who became Golden Angels this year with their first, or additional gift. They will be further honored at the Golden Angels Gala in 2011 chaired by Fana Holtz. This year’s principal Honorees were Platinum Seraphim Golden Angels Leon and Serena Simkins whose most recent $1 million gift was for the Leon and Serena Simkins Thyroid Center and for pediatric cancer care at Holtz Children’s Hospital. Also honored was Foundation Rainmaker Mariana Martinez, an extraordinary individuals whose influence, energy and passion both help ensure the prosperity of Jackson Memorial Foundation and serve as a catalyst in making a difference to the projects and programs of the Jackson Health System. Mariana is Chairman of IKF’s Wonderfund™, a program of the Foundation that provides life-saving medical care for critically ill children who need immediate access to essential medical treatments that are unavailable in their respective home countries.
