Golden Angel Spring Dinner 2009

The third annual Jackson Memorial Foundation Golden Angel Society Recognition Dinner at Joe’s Stone Crab celebrated this year’s extraordinary fundraising success.

The Golden Angels took over the entire restaurant, closing it to outside diners. Creation of this event was the brainchild of Pat Wallace, Chairman and Founder of the Golden Angel Society. What could be better than stone crabs and key lime pie! But the fun atmosphere doesn’t belie the seriousness of the party.  It recognized the 42 individuals and organizations who became Golden Angels this year with their first, or additional gift.

This year’s principal philanthropists being honored were Harvey and Roberta Chaplin who donated $1 million to rebuild the Pediatric Emergency Room at Holtz Children’s Hospital.

In addition, Jackson’s star, Cindy Carr, announced a surprise $500,000 donation also for Holtz Children’s Hospital in honor of Fana Holtz’s birthday. And, eight new Angels were inspired to make new pledges during the dinner. They were: They were: Gerald Moore, Carolynn and Michael Friedman, Shirley Fletcher, Mariana Cordoba (is being made a Golden Angel by her aunt Maria Cordoba Good), Fran Fields Gordon and Samuel Gordon, Norma and Sammy Gordon, Mariana and Emilio Martinez, and Ann and Frank Rubino.

Chairman Pat Wallace introduced this year’s Rainmakers, Mike Carricarte, Sr. and Chris Riley, who were the extraordinary individuals whose influence and energy serve as a catalyst in making a difference at Jackson.

After a delicious dinner and evening of socializing, guests picked up their favor bag courtesy of Juan Lopez, Saks Fifth Avenue Dadeland.

This year’s honorees will meet again at the fabulous Golden Angels Gala chaired by the dynamic duo, Fana Holtz and Sherie Swerdlow on January 30, 2010 at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach.
