Breast Center and Mammogram Van
(Mitchell & Elizabeth Taylor Breast Health Center)
This program is the essence of JMH, serving hundreds of women daily who otherwise would not get the diagnostic and follow-up treatment necessary.  New digital equipment is necessary to replace rapidly outdated and overly expensive analog equipment.  The outreach van breaks down weekly and badly needs replacement, along with portable digital mammogram equipment.  The van will cost $1 million for a five-year lease, and the digital equipment can be purchased for as little as $250,000 each (total need over $1 million for new equipment).

Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Little in the hospital environment is as critical as the Newborn Intensive Care Unit in Holtz Children’s Hospital.  In 2007, we assisted in the $2 million renovation of the main NICU, however the two adjacent units (where premature babies grow as they gain weight) are badly in need of modernization.  New equipment such as heart-rate and respiration monitors are needed as well as the creation of a more effective layout.  Approximately $1 million is needed.

Childlife Equipment and Programs
Children have social and psychological support needs that often compound their need for health care treatment.  Few programs at JMH have suffered more severe cutbacks than Holtz Children’s Hospital’s childlife programs.  This includes our Jason Taylor Learning Center, which is down to one Foundation-sponsored employee.  Childlife is the department that provides educational and social needs of children while in the hospital, especially those who are interned for lengthy treatment periods.
Approximately $250,000 is needed during this calendar year.

Special Dedication Opportunities
These are two important recognition opportunities which will help promote the work of our foundation as well as provide critically needed funds for these areas.
